According to a well-placed source, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has quit the band for the second time.
The aforementioned "source" told Music Radar that “mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He’s interested in doing his own thing, his own albums – the whole big rock band machinery just doesn’t appeal to him anymore.â€
The group have reportedly found his replacement already in Chili Peppers alumnus Josh Klinghoffer. Klinghoffer has toured with the band in the past, and collaborated with Frusciante on the joint-solo album A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence.
Frusciante has had a fraught relationship with the music industry in the past, having originally left the band in 1992 at the height of his near-fatal heroin addiction. He returned in 1998 to record the wildly-successful Californication album.
