C'est désormais officiel, Léo Margarit prend ce soir officiellement la place de Johan Langell au sein de Pain of Salvation ! Après, Simon Andersson, il est le deuxième nouveau venu au sein du groupe en cette année 2007.

Biographie:
Léo est né dans le sud de la France en 1981.
Il a débuté la batterie à 5 ans. Après quelques années passées à l'école de musique locale, il déménagea à Montpelliers en 1996 pour y étudier au conservatoire de musique. Il fut diplomé en percussions classiques et musique de chambre en 2000.
Par la suite il a enseigné la baatteries et les percssions dans différentes écoles de musique et a joué avec de nombreux groupes.
Récement il était installé à Toulouse et jouait avec Latin Jam (latin jazz), Virtual Realm (metal progressif), Zubrowska (death metal), et avec le guitariste Jean-Pierre Llabador.

Red carpet people…
Well, I have this vision of recording the next Pain of Salvation album in the rehearsing room. Catch the sweaty magic of the demos on album. So, I have invested in some new studio gear, more mobile and versatile than the one I surround myself with in my regular studio. And we have now began to prep the rehearsing room. I bought 48 square meters of red carpet last week (we have a big rehearsing room), and we spent hours the other day carrying all our gear out in the corridor so we could put the carpet in, and then carry all the gear back in again. Simon wasn’t there for the occasion so he’ll be surprised next time he drops by. Then we have all the white fabric I bought for the walls just waiting to get up (we have five meters to the ceiling so I had to order no less than 18 five-meter rolls of fabric, 10 of which still need to be delivered). It’s a pearly vanilla white; I really want to preserve the sacral vibe of the room with its high ceiling and dome valve windows. A room light enough to hold the darkness that is my music…
I have already recorded some bits and pieces, and I can’t wait to start recording the album for real!

The fact that the band has seen such major changes the last two years made it very difficult emotionally to invest time and energy in this product, and it wasn't until the documentary draft was proposed by Per Hillblom that I started to see what this DVD was trying to communicate. We still have a few commentary tracks to record but we are starting to see the end of it."

"We are starting to get a grasp of the tons of material that I have been working on in my head. My vision is that the next album will be recorded in our rehearsing room, and we have started to prepare ourselves and the rehearsing room for this. The material that I am focusing on for the album at the moment, is some sort of cross breed between the heavy early 70s in the vein of Sabbath/Zeppelin and the dark weirdness of Faith no More/Soundgarden together with a touch of fragile suggestiveness displayed by The Doors/Jeff Buckley. Add some energetic Foo Fighters and you will start to get the picture..." |
